Freshman Orientation Day

I know, I know, I haven't been keeping up with this blog. However, since I have two-a-days from about 12:30 to about 8:30, I treasure my free time. Normally I come home, put on my most comfortable clothes, pour myself about 5 glasses of iced tea, and read Harry Potter, because all of those things do their best to take my mild sense of depression away, and make me forget about the terrible monster that is football. I've also taken to watching The Weather Channel a lot, hoping beyond hope that practice will be canceled do to unbearable weather. But alas, back to the topic. Freshman orientation day. Sole purpose: get us out of football early, but it also gives you another schedule and a map of the school as an added bonus. We pretty much just sat there and listen to about 20 guidance counselors talk, and then went to find our classrooms. First semester I have English 9, Algebra 1, Latin 2, and Keyboarding. I honestly couldn't think of anything else more mundane, but thats what I've got. That however is nothing compared to the shock of the afternoon. The original schedule I received in the mail had my homebase as Room 158, Mrs. Smith. I was perfectly happy. Mrs. Smith sounds like a lovely teacher, and room 158 is a few doors down from my friends homebase. What a fool was I, for the schedule I received today listed my room as the cramped and dingy 128, and the teacher as none other than Fox Chapel's head football coach, who I will not name. I may cry just thinking about it. Not only that, but everyone in the homebase are other football players whom I lifted with in the morning. They're alright, but not the kind of people I want to spend the mornings of 182 days with. Perhaps the only good part of today was when I found that I did have one class in the second semester with my good friend Dexter Lee after all. I really hope I'm wrong, but this school year is already shaping up to be a bust.
