Keep Parkour Free of Competition?

I am a big fan of parkour, and an amateur traceur myself, so I keep in touch with whats going on in the international parkour community as much as I can. Through this, I have recently found something that upsets me to a certain degree, and that is the image above. There seems to be, on all the major websites and forums etc., a rallying cry to keep parkour free of competition, in light of recent self proclaimed "parkouring competitions". Now what upsets me about this whole situation is that myself, being an extremely argumentative person who can easily form strong opinions on almost any topic, I, myself, can't take a side on this issue at all. I mean, I'll admit, I would love there to be competative parkour, but competition is not in the philosophy of parkour. On the other hand, I am almost sure I read somewhere, David Belle addressing parkour as a sport, and competition is at the root of all sport. A parkour competition wouldn't have to be a man on man affair, but simply a way to measure and gauge ones skills based upon other traceurs' ability. When it comes right down to it, I can't take a side. If you have an opinion, respond to the poll on the right side of th page. Be warned however that if you are pro competition then you are in the vast minority.
